Pakistan has introduced an artificial intelligence-based translator, SILA, for people with hearing impairments to help deliver timely information and warnings during emergencies and save lives.
According to the British High Commissioner, the United Kingdom has supported the Sono Tech project, which is an inclusive early warning system for all citizens, including people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The system has been developed by technology company ConnectHear, with support from GSMA Pakistan and Ufone.

The British representative also demonstrated the use of the AI translator SILA at a deaf students’ facility and learned from the students how to use the technology.
The project aims to provide deaf people with timely and understandable information about emergencies, natural disasters and other threats so they can take effective safety measures.
