Pakistan Call Centers Set New Export Record

Pakistan’s call center sector recorded its highest ever export earnings of $392 million in the financial year 2025 to 26, up 19 percent from $329 million a year earlier, as growing adoption of artificial intelligence helped companies expand services to foreign clients.

According to State Bank of Pakistan data, call center export receipts increased by $63 million during the year from the $329 million recorded in financial year 2024 to 25. The latest figure represents the highest export earnings recorded by the sector.

Call Centers Association of Pakistan President Adeel Azhar said the adoption of AI in call centers and business process outsourcing has increased the sector’s capacity to serve new clients across international markets.

He said Pakistani call center companies are also entering Middle Eastern and European markets as AI based solutions and systems make it easier for local operators to expand their service offerings. He expects foreign exchange earnings from the sector to continue increasing and contribute more to Pakistan’s overall IT enabled services exports.

The United States remains the largest market for Pakistan’s call center and business process outsourcing services, accounting for nearly 70 percent of their business. Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia are the other major markets.

More than 1,000 call centers are registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board, while another 500 sizeable call centers operate across different cities. Around 90 percent of these centers serve foreign clients, while the remaining businesses work for multinational companies and utility providers in Pakistan.

The sector also includes smaller call centers operating as part of software houses, digital agencies and ecommerce companies. Collectively, these businesses employ more than 1 million people and contribute to Pakistan’s position as a competitive outsourcing destination.

The sector has also faced reputational challenges after some call centers were linked to alleged illicit activities and fraud in recent years. Relevant government ministries and law enforcement agencies have since intensified operations against businesses involved in scams and fraudulent activities.
