Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, data governance and emerging technologies, opening the way for a more long-term technology partnership between the two countries.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) President Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi on the sidelines of the LEAP 2026 conference in Riyadh.
According to Pakistan’s state broadcaster, the two sides discussed establishing a comprehensive and sustainable partnership covering AI, data governance and advanced technologies.
Pakistan’s AI and Data Plans
During the meeting, Shaza Fatima briefed Alghamdi on Pakistan’s ongoing initiatives related to its national AI and data governance agenda.
The minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to developing a strong data ecosystem and expanding the country’s digital economy.
The discussions also focused on ways Pakistan and Saudi Arabia can continue working together on emerging technologies and build a lasting framework for cooperation.
The latest talks come as both countries are increasing their focus on AI, digital infrastructure, technology skills and data-driven development.
