OnePlus 16 Goes Overkill With 9,000mAh Battery and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6
The OnePlus 16 is now official in China, bringing several major upgrades over its predecessor. The new flagship features Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, a 200MP main camera, a high-refresh-rate OLED display, and a significantly larger 9,000mAh battery.
The phone will initially remain exclusive to China.
Design and Display
The OnePlus 16 features a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1,272 x 2,772 pixel resolution.
The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, although regular system usage runs at up to 165Hz. The full 185Hz mode is reserved for supported games.
OnePlus is using BOE’s X4 luminescent material for the display. The panel can also drop to a hardware brightness level of just 1 nit.
Slim 1.15mm bezels surround the screen and include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
The OnePlus 16 is available in Starlight, Dark Forest, and Martian Masterpiece color options.
Internals and Software
The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset.
The base model comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the highest-end configuration offers 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
On the software side, the OnePlus 16 runs ColorOS 17.
Cameras
The OnePlus 16 features a triple-camera system on the back. The primary camera uses a 200MP sensor measuring 1/1.4 inches.
It is joined by a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 50MP front-facing camera.
Battery and Pricing
OnePlus has equipped the phone with a large 9,000mAh battery. It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
In China, the base 12GB + 256GB model is priced at around $896. The top-end 16GB + 1TB version costs around $1,270.
Open sales in China will begin on October 31.
