The National Information Technology Board (NITB) has acquired an advanced security testing tool to improve the safety of government digital services and software and protect them from being hacked.
The tool will help NITB find security weaknesses in applications at an early stage and improve protection against new and growing cyber threats.
As part of the initiative, NITB recently held a training and demonstration session for its technical teams. The session introduced staff to the features of the newly acquired security tool and showed them how it can be used during software development and security checks.
During the training, experts explained different ways to scan software for security problems, the main features of the tool, how to find and report weaknesses at an early stage, and recommended practices for writing safer software.
The sessions also highlighted the importance of checking software for security problems before it is released. Early testing can help make digital applications safer and better prepared to deal with cyber threats.
The session was attended by software developers, quality assurance engineers, and other technical officials from NITB. Participants received practical guidance on including security checks throughout the software development process. This will allow security problems to be found and fixed before software is made available to users.
According to officials, the new security testing tool is expected to strengthen NITB’s overall digital security system and support the delivery of secure, reliable, and resilient digital services for the public sector.
The initiative also supports wider efforts to improve Pakistan’s cybersecurity and protect government digital systems from changing cyber threats.
