NHA Issues Travel Advisory For Northern Areas

The National Highway Authority has issued an urgent travel advisory after severe traffic disruptions hit key northern highway routes.

The NHA said flash floods at Thak have closed the Babusar Highway to all traffic at Zero Point, making the route unsafe for vehicles.

Authorities have advised passengers and tourists to avoid travelling on Babusar Highway and use the Karakoram Highway instead.

However, traffic on the Karakoram Highway has also been temporarily suspended near Shang Nullah, close to Gonar Farm, after a heavy freight truck overturned and blocked the road.

Officials have stopped additional vehicles from entering the affected stretch at the Gonar Farm check post to prevent further congestion.

NHA teams, along with the Diamer district administration and rescue workers with heavy machinery, are working to remove the overturned truck and restore traffic as soon as possible.

Commuters have been asked to avoid unnecessary travel on these routes and follow instructions issued by the local administration.
