The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a special facility allowing women aged 18 and above to obtain a CNIC even without a birth certificate.
According to NADRA, married women can apply for their CNIC by providing a computerized Nikah Nama. Biometric verification of either the applicant’s husband or one of her parents will be mandatory.
For unmarried women aged 18 and above, the applicant must have a CNIC of either a parent, sibling, or both as supporting documentation. A parent or sibling must also be present for biometric verification during the application process.
NADRA said the facility is intended to facilitate women who face difficulties obtaining their first CNIC due to the absence of a birth certificate.
The authority initially announced that the facility would remain available until December 31, but the statement also mentions December 21, 2026 as the validity date.
Applicants are advised to complete their CNIC applications within the announced period and meet the required documentation and biometric verification conditions.
