Multiple Natural Springs Emerge Across Islamabad [Video]

A natural spring has emerged in the middle of Islamabad Expressway at Zero Point following recent rainfall, sending water onto the busy road.

CDA Director General Water Sardar Zimri said the CDA team inspected the site and found no water-supply line beneath the location. He said the water comes from a natural spring.

Responding to a citizen on X, Zimri said he personally reviewed the site with his team. He also recalled that the same location produced water in 2011 before the flow stopped on its own after a few days.

Recent rainfall has raised groundwater levels in Islamabad and may have triggered the spring. The CDA is cleaning a drainage line along the road and excavating deeper to reduce water pressure and control the flow.

Zimri also said natural springs have emerged at other locations in Islamabad, including beneath a hill near the Pakistan Monument and from a hill beside Minister Enclave. He said the rise in groundwater levels offers some relief because Islamabad has faced water shortages in recent months.
