Motorola’s First Wide Foldable Leaks With Creaseless Display to Rival Samsung

Motorola is reportedly preparing to launch a wide foldable smartphone later this year, joining Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi in the growing wide-screen foldable category.

Samsung introduced its first wide foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold8, in July, while Huawei followed with the Pura X View in August. Xiaomi is also preparing to unveil the Xiaomi 18 Fold on September 7.

Android Headlines now reports that Motorola will enter the same category with a new wide foldable expected to arrive “in the coming months.”

The publication has not revealed the phone’s name but shared several design sketches showing what the device could look like.

Two Possible Designs

The leaked sketches show two slightly different versions of Motorola’s upcoming foldable.

Both designs feature a horizontally positioned rear camera island with three circular cutouts. One version places one of the cutouts outside the camera island, while the other keeps all three inside.

The back panel is expected to use 3D glass, while the camera module features what the sketches describe as metal decoration.

Motorola branding is also visible on the hinge.

Slim Body and Creaseless Display

The sketches describe the phone as having a bezel-less design, an “easy-open profile,” an “ultra-slim housing,” and a “creaseless display.”

The main folding display includes a selfie camera in the top-right corner.

The outer display also has a selfie camera, positioned inside a centered punch-hole.

Camera Layout Still Unclear

The rear of the phone features three circular openings, but it is not yet clear whether all three are camera sensors.

One of the cutouts could instead house an LED flash or another type of sensor.

No additional information about the camera specifications has been revealed.

What We Know About the Hardware

The report does not provide details about the chipset, RAM, storage, battery, or software.

Motorola already offers the Razr Fold, its first book-style smartphone with a horizontally folding design, but the upcoming device would use the wider form factor shown in the leaked sketches.

Expected Launch

Android Headlines’ source says Motorola’s wide foldable will arrive “in the coming months,” although no specific launch date has been provided.

For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 starts at $1,899.99 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model, while the 12GB RAM and 512GB version costs $2,099.99.

More details about Motorola’s upcoming wide foldable are expected closer to its launch.
