Microsoft has officially unveiled the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful Surface laptop to date. It is also the first Microsoft laptop to come with Nvidia’s RTX Spark platform for AI workloads.
The new model targets developers, creators, and AI researchers who need workstation-class performance in a portable form factor.
15-Inch Mini-LED Display
The Surface Laptop Ultra features a 15-inch Mini-LED PixelSense Ultra touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio and up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness.
It also includes a large haptic touchpad that Microsoft says is about 30% larger than the touchpads found on typical 15-inch Surface laptops.
Nvidia RTX Spark Platform
The laptop is powered by Nvidia’s RTX Spark platform, with configurations using either an 18-core or 20-core CPU.
Graphics are based on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture, with up to 6,144 GPU cores.
The system supports up to 128GB of unified memory and can deliver up to one petaflop of FP4 AI compute.
Microsoft is positioning the device heavily around local AI workloads, allowing demanding AI models and agentic workloads to run directly on the laptop instead of relying entirely on cloud processing.
Up to 2TB Storage
Storage options go up to 2TB, while the SSD can be replaced or upgraded by the user.
The laptop measures 18mm thick and weighs around 4.5 pounds.
Connectivity includes:
- USB-C
- USB-A
- HDMI
- 3.5mm audio jack
- Full-size SD card reader
Microsoft has also introduced Magnetic Connect, a magnetic port that supports power, data, and video.
The Surface Laptop Ultra is available in Platinum and Nightfall finishes.
