Medical and Dental Colleges to Face Heavy Fines for Breaking Rules
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued its Medical and Dental Admission Policy 2026, introducing heavy fines and other penalties for colleges violating admission rules, delaying merit lists, and failing to meet administrative requirements, reported 24NewsHD TV on Monday.
Under the new policy, medical colleges will face a fine of Rs500,000 for delaying the issuance of merit lists, with an additional Rs50,000 charged for each subsequent day of delay.
Colleges admitting students beyond their allocated seats will be fined an amount equal to the annual tuition fee for each additional student, and their seats may also be reduced by half in the next admission session.
The policy sets a fine of Rs50,000 per student for delays in registration, Rs75,000 for late reporting of graduation, and Rs30,000 for delays in submitting annual examination results.
Colleges will face a fine of Rs100,000 for delayed reporting of student transfers or withdrawals, while violations of rules governing fees and other charges will attract a penalty of Rs200,000.
PMDC has also made online reporting mandatory for medical and dental colleges, universities and students, with required documents to be submitted through the council’s designated online portal.
The council has further made a minimum one-year house job mandatory for obtaining a full licence. Teaching hospitals must submit house job completion certificates to PMDC within 10 days of completion.
Under the policy, institutions must be issued a notice and allowed to present their position before a fine is imposed. Repeated violations may lead to restrictions on further admissions or additional legal action.
