McDonald’s Pakistan Partners with StarCharge China to Advance EV Charging and Green Infrastructure

McDonald’s Pakistan, under the leadership of Managing Director Jamil Mughal, is advancing its vision for customer convenience through a cooperation agreement with StarCharge. The partnership brings the restaurant network together with StarCharge’s charging business, led by Global CEO Li Hongqing and Pakistan CEO Omar Malik, to explore EV charging at suitable McDonald’s restaurants nationwide.

The proposed facilities aim to enable customers to charge their electric vehicles while dining, adding practical value to the restaurant experience. By combining a meal break with vehicle charging, the initiative would enhance convenience, help customers make better use of their time and make electric mobility a more practical part of everyday life.

Beyond customer convenience, the partnership represents a significant step towards strengthening Pakistan’s green infrastructure. Expanded charging access can encourage environmentally friendly transportation, help reduce dependence on conventional fuels and support national objectives for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. Cleaner transportation can also contribute to improved air quality, reduced carbon emissions and a more resilient economy.

Formalised in Islamabad on October 19, 2026, the agreement demonstrates how this strategic partnership can translate technology into practical benefits for customers and the country. McDonald’s Pakistan and StarCharge China will jointly assess potential locations based on technical feasibility, infrastructure requirements and commercial viability before implementation, laying the groundwork for greater convenience and more sustainable journeys.
