Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz Hussain has appealed to Field Marshal Asim Munir and other senior figures to intervene against the forced seizure and auction of Bahria Town assets.
In a written appeal, Malik Riaz claimed that Bahria Town properties worth at least Rs. 238.6 billion have either been seized, auctioned, or are facing disposal despite multiple cases remaining pending before courts and other legal forums.
He argued that selling key assets at distressed prices would undermine the company’s ability to complete development projects and meet its legal obligations.
He also said nearly Rs. 372 billion worth of development work has been suspended, affecting housing schemes, public infrastructure, utilities, and thousands of people linked to Bahria Town.
Malik Riaz further claimed that he and his family received death threats and were subjected to surveillance. He added that an FIR regarding the threats was initially registered, later cancelled, and subsequently restored by the High Court, but no independent investigation has been conducted and the accused remains at large.
He said members of his family faced unlawful detention, threats, and intimidation, while his brother allegedly disappeared for several months before being found in poor health.
Malik Riaz maintained that the dispute extends beyond a private business matter because thousands of families have invested in Bahria Town projects, while contractors, suppliers, financial institutions, and employees depend on its operations.
He called for outstanding disputes to be resolved through institutional dialogue instead of continued asset seizures, saying a negotiated settlement would allow the company to fulfill its legal and financial obligations while protecting the interests of the state, investors, allottees, creditors, and other stakeholders.
The appeal stated that Bahria Town is not seeking immunity from the law but wants legal disputes to be settled through due process rather than continued attachment and disposal of its assets.
