Major Karachi Road to Get Beautification Upgrade

Karachi authorities have intensified beautification and improvement work along Shahrah-e-Faisal, with a focus on landscaping, greenery, road repairs, parking management, encroachment removal and improvements to adjoining service roads.

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi reviewed the progress of the ongoing work during a meeting and directed relevant departments to improve the overall condition and appearance of the major thoroughfare.

As part of the beautification drive, plantation and landscaping work will be carried out at different locations, while hedges will be installed to conceal exposed areas and unsightly cables.

Officials said American grass and natural greenery had already been installed near Fozia Wahab Bridge and Mansion Banquet, while coloring and tile work along boundary edges is underway.

The meeting also reviewed road patchwork, cleanliness, footpath and green belt improvements, curb-stone painting and encroachment removal.

Authorities have removed encroachments and debris from Baloch Colony Bridge and Shahrah-e-Faisal flyovers. Unnecessary Jersey barriers have also been cleared from beneath Baloch Colony Bridge.

Work on footpaths, patchwork, painting and encroachment removal around Baloch Colony and Fozia Wahab flyovers has been completed.

A modern U-turn and wider cuts beneath Fozia Wahab Bridge have also been completed to improve traffic flow, while the area has been asphalted.

The meeting also addressed haphazard parking along service roads, particularly near high-rise commercial buildings.

Authorities decided to develop organized parking on the green belt between Kawish Crown and Rumi Mosque. The proposed parking spaces will be paved to facilitate commercial offices and help reduce traffic congestion.

K-Electric, KMC and private cable operators will also jointly carry out the undergrounding or removal of hanging and inactive cables along Shahrah-e-Faisal.
