The Islamabad Traffic Police will close the road between Rawal Dam Chowk and Kashmir Chowk from October 15, 2026, until further notice and has directed motorists to use alternative routes.
The closure will affect commuters traveling between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as those heading toward Park Road, Lehtrar Road, Murree, and Barkahu.
The traffic police has advised motorists traveling from G-5, the Secretariat, and Serena Hotel toward Rawalpindi to take Srinagar Highway and Ninth Avenue. They can also use Srinagar Highway, Mehrabad, and Peshawar Road.
Commuters heading toward Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road, and Lehtrar Road can use Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, Shakarparian Road, Tulip Hotel, and Rawal Dam Road.
People traveling to Murree and Bhara Kahu can take Faizabad, Faisal Avenue, Zero Point, Srinagar Highway, and Jinnah Square Underpass.
Motorists entering Islamabad from Rawalpindi should use Ninth Avenue, Faqir Aipee Road, and Srinagar Highway. Those traveling from Park Road and Lehtrar Road toward Islamabad can take Tulip Hotel Road, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian Road, and Seventh Avenue.
The traffic police has warned commuters to expect congestion along alternative routes and leave home 20 to 25 minutes earlier than usual. Traffic officers will assist motorists during the closure. The Islamabad Traffic Police will also share updates on its FM 92.4 radio service and social media pages.
