LDA Introduces Maintenance Charges Like Private Housing Societies

The Lahore Development Authority has decided to introduce monthly maintenance charges in its housing schemes, following the model used by private housing societies.

A pilot project has been proposed for Avenue One and Jubilee Town, while monthly charges are also being considered for residents of LDA City.

Under the proposal, separate maintenance charges will be collected from residential and commercial property owners in all three schemes. Officials have initially estimated around 600 residential houses across the three societies.

According to the plan, each house will be charged between Rs2,500 and Rs3,000 per month. Commercial properties are expected to pay double the amount charged to residential units.

In return, the authority plans to provide services such as security, cleanliness, garbage collection and repair of green belts.

If the pilot project proves successful, the maintenance charge system may be extended to all LDA housing schemes.

Final approval for the proposed charges will be given by the LDA Governing Body.
