Apple’s long-awaited foldable iPhone may arrive with a different name and a lower-than-expected starting price. Previous reports suggested the device could cost more than $2,000, with estimates reaching around $2,199, but a last-minute rumor now places the starting price at $1,999.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the foldable will reportedly be called the iPhone Duo, rather than iPhone Ultra. The device was initially rumored as the iPhone Fold before more recent reports began referring to it as the iPhone Ultra.
iPhone Duo Specs and Price
The iPhone Duo is expected to start with 256GB of storage and come in white and dark blue.
It will reportedly use Apple’s A20 Pro chip alongside the company’s new C2 modem.
The phone is said to feature two 48MP rear cameras and a 12MP front camera designed specifically for video conferencing.
Other expected features include a magnetic hinge and support for the Apple Pencil.
The device could go on sale as early as October, starting at around $1,999, which is roughly $200 lower than Gurman’s previous estimate. Higher-storage versions could still approach $3,000.
iPhone 18 Pro Models
Apple is also expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at today’s event.
Both phones are said to look almost identical to their predecessors, although the orange color option will reportedly be replaced by a new burgundy red finish.
At least the Pro Max is expected to feature a variable-aperture main camera, while both models will use the A20 Pro chip.
They are also rumored to offer longer battery life and redesigned vapor chambers for improved heat management.
The Dynamic Island is expected to become smaller and support three live tasks simultaneously, compared with two on current models.
Both phones are reportedly set to cost $100 more than their predecessors.
Apple Watch and AirPods Updates
Gurman also claims the Apple Watch Series 12 will bring back a ceramic option alongside new colors, while the Apple Watch Ultra 4 will offer improved battery life.
The watches will work with a redesigned Health app and a new Readiness app, featuring some functions similar to Oura and Whoop devices.
Apple is also reportedly adding a privacy-focused feature that analyzes a user’s day and summarizes events, including conversations, without recording or storing audio or providing transcripts.
Meanwhile, Apple’s rumored AirPods with cameras have reportedly been delayed until next year.
The AirPods 5, however, are still expected to debut today with what is described as dramatically improved noise cancellation.
