Lahore’s Neela Gumbad and Nasir Bagh parking plazas face a funding shortfall of Rs. 800 million, putting their October 2026 completion deadline at risk.
Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) officials said roughly 60% to 70% of the construction work had been completed. With the gray structures finished, work has moved to the finishing stage.
However, additional funds are needed to place orders for imported items and complete the remaining finishing work at both sites.
According to officials, TEPA has repeatedly written to the Punjab government and Walled City authorities seeking the release of funds. Despite highlighting the urgency of the matter, the relevant departments have yet to provide the required money.
The agency maintains that both plazas can still be completed within the scheduled deadline if funding is released promptly. Their timely completion now depends on securing the money needed for the remaining work and purchases.
The Neela Gumbad and Nasir Bagh parking plazas are among the Punjab government’s priority projects. Although construction has reached an advanced stage, the unresolved funding gap remains a hurdle to meeting the October deadline.
