Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi has ordered a crackdown on encroachments, roadside carts, rickshaw stands, and wrong parking outside hospitals across the city.
The CTO directed divisional and circle officers to review traffic arrangements around hospitals and coordinate with hospital administrations to address congestion and other traffic-related issues.
He said teams from the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) and the Municipal Corporation should be involved in removing encroachments. Roadside carts and other structures set up along hospital walls have also been ordered to be removed immediately.
Shirazi stressed that emergency roads and hospital gates must remain clear at all times to ensure the smooth movement of ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
Circle officers have also been instructed to meet hospital medical superintendents and security officials to improve traffic management around healthcare facilities.
The CTO further directed traffic wardens to give ambulances immediate priority and clear the way as soon as they hear an emergency siren.
