The number of patients showing COVID-19-like symptoms is reportedly increasing in Lahore, while government teaching hospitals lack facilities to confirm suspected cases.
According to sources, patients with symptoms including cough, fever, breathing difficulties, and severe body aches are visiting hospitals on a daily basis.
However, the cases remain unconfirmed as government teaching hospitals are currently not conducting COVID-19 tests, sources said.
The lack of testing facilities means doctors are unable to determine whether patients showing these symptoms have contracted COVID-19 or are suffering from another respiratory illness.
Sources said government teaching hospitals have failed to arrange testing facilities despite the reported increase in patients with COVID-like symptoms.
The absence of testing has also limited the ability of health authorities to identify confirmed cases and take measures to monitor or contain any potential spread of the virus.
No official data confirming a rise in COVID-19 cases in Lahore has been reported, as suspected patients are not being tested at the affected government hospitals.
