Lahore High Court Announces New Dress Code for Lawyers

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed lawyers to resume wearing gowns during court proceedings from November 2 as the winter season approaches.

According to instructions issued by the LHC Registrar’s Office, lawyers must comply with the prescribed dress code when appearing before the court.

The gown requirement is being reinstated after a temporary exemption granted during the summer season.

Earlier, a notification issued in March 2026 allowed lawyers to appear in court without gowns from March 30. The exemption applied to the Lahore High Court’s principal seat and all its benches.
