The Suthra Punjab program has fallen well short of its cleanliness bill collection targets in Lahore, recovering only 3% of the total billed amount over the past seven months.
According to available data, 5.19 million cleanliness bills have been issued in the city since January, but only 275,000 have been paid.
The bills were worth approximately Rs. 13 billion in total, while collections have reached just Rs. 360 million so far.
Of the 2.8 million bills issued in residential areas, only 127,000 were paid, leaving a large amount outstanding.
Collection remained weak in commercial areas as well. Around 2.3 million bills were issued to commercial consumers during the seven-month period, of which 148,000 were paid.
The poor recovery rate has emerged as a major challenge for the Suthra Punjab program in meeting its financial targets. Authorities believe further measures are needed to improve bill collection.
