A proposal has been made to increase the basic salaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officers and personnel by 250 percent, with a formal notification to be issued if the move receives final approval.
According to police officials, recommendations related to granting hard area allowance to personnel performing counter-terrorism duties have also been approved.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department had sent the hard area allowance recommendations to the federal government. Officials said details of the relevant districts will be forwarded after identifying the hard areas.
It is proposed that all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, except Swabi and the Hazara division, be declared hard areas.
Once the recommendations are sent to the federal government and final approval is granted, a formal notification will be issued.
Under the proposed move, a 250 percent increase in the basic salaries of police officers and personnel is expected.
Police officials said the first letter regarding hard area status for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was sent to the federal government in March 2025.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have previously demanded hard area status based on counter-terrorism duties and the salary gap compared with other provinces.
