KP Police Salaries Officially Increased

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced a major increase in police salaries and welfare benefits, saying the new pay package would exceed expectations and ensure that KP Police salaries become higher than those of other provinces.

Addressing a ceremony at the Governor House in Peshawar, where allotment letters for residential plots were distributed among the heirs of 54 police martyrs, the Governor said compensation for police personnel martyred or injured in the line of duty would also be increased.

Under the package, the families of police personnel martyred on duty, from constables to inspectors, will receive Rs17 million. The compensation for families of officers holding the ranks of deputy superintendent of police and superintendent of police will rise to Rs25 million.

Families of officers in grades 18 and 19 will receive Rs30 million, while compensation for those in grade 20 and above will increase to Rs35 million.

Kundi also announced Rs70 million in housing assistance for the families of officers in grade 20 and above martyred in service. Officers who suffer permanent disabilities will be eligible for Rs5 million.

In contrast, the death of an officer’s spouse or child will qualify for assistance of Rs5 million, and the death of a parent, brother or sister will entitle the officer to Rs3 million.

The Governor also approved direct financial assistance for the families of police officers martyred in service, replacing the previous provision of allocating plots of land.

He announced a special marriage grant for the daughters of police martyrs and directed the authorities to establish an effective mechanism to provide free education to the children of martyrs through Sweet Homes and banks’ corporate social responsibility programs.

Kundi also announced an increase in police salaries and said 17,000 vacant positions in the provincial police force would be filled through new appointments to reduce the workload on serving officers and ensure adequate manpower for public protection.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Secretary Dr Fakhare Alam Irfan, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, senior police officers, members of the Advisory Council and the families of the martyrs.
