KP Orders Schools With Unsafe Buildings to Suspend Classes
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has ordered inspections of school buildings across the province following a roof collapse at a private school in Peshawar.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department has directed district education officers to verify reports, photographs and videos showing potentially unsafe school buildings and take immediate action against safety risks.
Officials must suspend classes in buildings found unsafe and move students to nearby schools or other secure locations. Schools can resume classes only after completing necessary repairs and obtaining safety clearance from the relevant technical authority.
The department has also ordered officials to prioritize repairs and seek technical assessments for buildings with major structural defects.
All districts must submit reports detailing inspections, unsafe buildings, suspended classes, student relocation arrangements and corrective measures by 12 noon on October 21, 2026.
