Karachi’s Historic Bazaar Undergoes Major Restoration
Historic Soldier Bazaar is undergoing restoration and beautification work as the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) moves to improve the area after years of encroachments and neglect.
Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inspected the ongoing work on Tuesday and said the project is aimed at restoring the original character of the historically and commercially important market.
He said encroachments and prolonged deterioration had badly affected Soldier Bazaar, but conditions were gradually improving after the start of restoration work.
Wahab added that KMC would continue efforts to improve urban areas, provide basic civic facilities and restore historic sites across Karachi.
He said the Soldier Bazaar project is expected to create a better environment for residents, shopkeepers and visitors.
The mayor also said KMC is carrying out road rehabilitation work in different parts of the city to improve traffic flow and make daily travel easier for citizens.
He added that road repair and reconstruction work is underway around the National Stadium, National Coaching Centre and in parts of Orangi Town as part of broader infrastructure improvement efforts.
