Karachi to Register Roadside Hotels Through QR Codes, Affidavits

Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi has decided to take action against pushcarts occupying footpaths across the city.

The decision came during a meeting chaired by the commissioner to review measures against overcharging. The meeting decided to mobilize municipal authorities to prevent pushcarts from occupying footpaths and creating encroachments.

The meeting also decided to register roadside hotels through QR codes and affidavits. Authorities will seal roadside hotels that remain unregistered on the commissioner’s portal.

According to the Karachi Commissioner’s spokesperson, authorities have arrested 17 profiteers and sealed 39 shops during ongoing operations against overcharging.

Hassan Naqvi emphasized the need to make the campaign against overcharging and encroachments more effective.
