Karachi Gets Upgraded Pumping Station to Improve Water Supply

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the Saulah Muhammad Water Pumping Station in Gadap Town, following improvement work at the facility after several decades.

Speaking at the inauguration, Wahab said the station’s chlorination center had also been made operational. The project is expected to improve water supply to residential areas and housing societies along Memon Goth Road, including Jafar Tayyar, Khokhrapar, and Firdous Colony.

He said residents of Gulshan-e-Hadeed had been facing water supply problems since Pakistan Steel Mills stopped supplying water to the area. However, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) representatives had taken steps to address the issue.

The mayor also announced that a new pipeline capable of supplying 10 million gallons of water per day (MGD) had been laid to improve water availability in Lyari. Another pipeline has been installed along the Lyari Expressway, while measures are being taken to prevent water theft.

He added that further work was underway to improve Memon Goth Road.

Highlighting other public services, Wahab said the reopened Spencer Eye Hospital was receiving approximately 300 patients daily.
