JazzCash, Pakistan’s leading digital financial services platform, has disbursed PKR 10,000 each to 100,000 beneficiaries across Punjab under the Government of Punjab’s “Maryam Ko Batayn” programme. As the programme’s disbursement partner, JazzCash has delivered PKR 1 billion in financial assistance through its agent network, enabling beneficiaries to collect the funds securely and closer to their homes.
Launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the programme connects eligible citizens with government assistance through helpline 1000, the “Maryam Ko Batayn” mobile application and the official web portal. Applicants register using their CNIC, after which their eligibility is verified against the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) and other relevant welfare databases.
Once approved, beneficiaries can collect the grant in cash from a designated JazzCash agent following CNIC and biometric verification. They do not need to open a bank account, visit a bank branch or travel to a central government distribution point. With a vast JazzCash agents network across Punjab, the programme brings assistance within easier reach of communities, including those with limited access to traditional banking services.
For citizens already registered with the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry, funds can be made available within 24 hours of verification. New applicants can be registered, verified and approved for disbursement within four days, creating a clear and efficient route from application to receiving assistance.
The initial phase has reached 100,000 beneficiaries across the province. Following its success, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the continuation of the programme beyond Ramazan, extending its support to more individuals and families facing financial hardship.
“Behind every disbursement is a person or family relying on timely assistance. Our role is to make sure that support reaches them securely, efficiently and with dignity. By combining biometric verification with an extensive agent network, JazzCash is helping the Government of Punjab bring financial assistance closer to communities across the province,” said Arif Mahmood Chaudhary, Head of Public Sector Partnerships at JazzCash.
The programme builds on JazzCash’s work with federal and provincial institutions to modernise the delivery of welfare and government-to-person payments.
