The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has told the National Assembly that engineers trained in Integrated Circuit (IC) Design and Verification can earn around Rs. 150,000 or more per month.
The figure was shared in a written response on government initiatives aimed at developing specialized technology skills and creating employment opportunities for young engineers.
The government-backed training program, funded by Ignite, the National Technology Fund under the Ministry of IT and Telecom, was implemented by FAST-NUCES.
The program trained 30 engineers, including seven women, selected from 20 districts across Pakistan.
Participants received specialized training in advanced IC design, VLSI verification, System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture and industry-standard design tools. The program also provided exposure to chip tapeout and fabrication processes.
The training has also resulted in employment for most of its participants. According to the ministry, 23 of the 30 trained engineers secured jobs in Pakistan’s semiconductor industry.
The remaining seven trainees opted to pursue master’s degrees for further specialization.
The ministry said the initiative was aimed at developing skilled human resources for Pakistan’s semiconductor sector, where specialized engineering expertise is required.
According to Ignite’s information shared with the National Assembly, fresh professionals with IC Design and Verification skills can earn approximately Rs. 150,000 or more per month.
The employment of 23 trained engineers in local semiconductor companies also indicates demand for professionals with specialized skills in IC design and verification.
