Islamabad Police Arrests Gang Behind US Student Visa Scam With Laiba Ejaz

Police have arrested a gang accused of deceiving Laiba Ijaz into believing they could send her abroad for higher education, a fraud case that reportedly led to her suicide in Islamabad.

Police said the arrested suspects include Nauman, Fatima Sarwar and Aiza.

According to the FIR, the suspects allegedly took Rs9.3 million from Laiba Ijaz in the name of arranging a US visa and scholarship.

The victim was also given fake scholarship documents, university offer letters and fee receipts, the FIR stated.

Laiba, who wanted to study in the United States, reportedly took her own life on October 9 after being left under severe financial pressure and mental distress when the scholarship and study-abroad dream turned out to be a scam.

Police and the FIA have expanded the investigation and are probing the possible involvement of more people in the fraud.
