Some Burgundy iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max units are reportedly developing a noticeable color shift, with the dark finish becoming lighter and more red over time.
A Reddit user named Low-Ad9343 posted photos showing the difference on an iPhone 18 Pro purchased on September 19.
By October 9, around three weeks later, the phone’s aluminum surface had reportedly changed from a deep Burgundy shade to a much brighter red.
Cause Unclear
Some users have suggested that a chemical reaction may be affecting the colored aluminum finish, but there is no confirmed evidence explaining the change.
The affected owner took the phone to an Apple Store, where staff said they would check with an engineer and follow up by Monday, October 12.
It remains unclear whether Apple treated the issue as a warranty problem or offered a replacement.

Dust Complaints
This is not the first appearance-related complaint involving the Burgundy iPhone 18 Pro.
Some owners have also reported dust collecting around the camera modules, where it is especially visible on Burgundy and Black models.
The dust can be cleaned, but users say it returns and requires regular cleaning. There is also concern that dust particles could scratch the camera lens covers during cleaning.
The difference with the latest complaint is that the color change appears to be permanent rather than something that can be wiped away.
Similar Complaints Appeared Last Year
Apple faced similar reports with the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro, with some owners saying their phones gradually developed a pink tint.
Apple has not officially confirmed a manufacturing problem with the iPhone 18 Pro finish.
There is also no verified explanation for the discoloration, and it remains unclear how many devices are affected.
Some users have speculated about heat or UV exposure, but neither has been confirmed as the cause.
