Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has said he may resign from his post if he is unable to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and secure progress on key issues.
The minister told a private news channel that corruption was widespread and had made it difficult for him to deliver results despite repeatedly pursuing matters with government authorities.
He said bureaucrats often failed to implement decisions or act on his recommendations, leaving him frustrated.
Sheikh said frequent changes in governments had not brought meaningful relief for ordinary people, while poverty and public hardship had continued to worsen.
The minister also seemed fed up with the reduced role of the parliamentary party, saying meetings before National Assembly sessions had become much less frequent.
Sheikh said he had been unable to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif even briefly during the past two and a half years. He said he was making efforts to secure a meeting with the prime minister.
The investment minister warned that if he could not meet the prime minister soon, he would leave the ministry.
