Indian preacher Sant Rampal is back in the public spotlight after spending more than 11 years in jail, and his unusual return has now gone viral in India.
A video shows the bizarre individual sitting inside a specially built glass-sided hydraulic vehicle fitted with air conditioning. The vehicle carries a chair for Rampal and allows him to sit above his followers while they approach to receive his modern blessings. A donation box is also visible inside the vehicle.
The video was shared just months after Rampal walked out of jail following a long legal battle.
Rampal was arrested on November 19, 2014, after a major police operation at his Satlok temple in Barwala, Haryana. The confrontation followed weeks of attempts by authorities to arrest him. Five women and an infant died during the violence surrounding the standoff.
He spent more than 11 years in jail. In April 2026, the Punjab and Haryana High Court granted him bail in a sedition case, and he was released from Hisar Central Jail on April 10.
Rampal was later convicted in two murder cases linked to the 2014 violence, while he was acquitted in some other cases.
Since his release, Rampal has returned to public activities, with large numbers of followers visiting him at his temple.
