Huawei has unveiled the Watch 6 and Watch 6 Pro as its latest flagship smartwatches. The company also introduced the Watch GT 7 and Watch GT 7 Pro globally after previously announcing them in China, while the Watch D3 and FreeBuds Neo were announced separately.
Huawei Watch 6 and Watch 6 Pro
The Huawei Watch 6 series includes the standard Watch 6 and the Watch 6 Pro.
The Watch 6 comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes, while the Watch 6 Pro is available in 43mm and 46mm versions. The 42mm Watch 6 weighs 38 grams without the strap, making it the lightest model in the lineup.
Huawei uses different materials across the series. Standard Watch 6 models are available with aluminum alloy and stainless-steel cases.
The 46mm Space Edition, Silver and Brown versions of the Watch 6 Pro use titanium cases. Meanwhile, the 43mm Ceramic Edition and White models use a nano-tech ceramic material.
All Watch 6 models feature LTPO OLED touchscreens protected by artificial sapphire glass. The Watch 6 reaches up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, while the Watch 6 Pro increases that figure to 3,500 nits.
Huawei also offers optional eSIM connectivity across the Watch 6 series.
New Gestures and Dual-Phone Connectivity
Huawei has introduced a new wrist-flick gesture that lets users quickly silence incoming calls and alarms.
The watches also support double-tap and double-slide pinch gestures. These can be used for actions including answering incoming calls and taking photos with a connected smartphone.
Huawei has also added dual-phone connectivity with support for both Android and iOS devices.
Expanded Health Tracking
The Watch 6 series includes Huawei’s Health Insights feature, which uses daily health and activity data to identify longer-term wellness trends and provide recommendations for recovery and reaching an optimal physical condition.
The watches can track heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, sleep, ECG, and heart rate variability.
They also support sleep breathing awareness, pulse wave arrhythmia analysis, and arterial stiffness detection evaluation.
Huawei’s X-Tap sensor also returns on the Watch 5 series. The sensor can measure several health metrics at the same time.
On the Watch 6 series, X-Tap adds support for hypertension, diabetes, and coronary heart disease risk studies.
This increases the total number of health metrics supported by X-Tap to 14. Huawei also claims it has increased sensor sensitivity by 100% and expanded the system from four channels to 12.
Sports and Workout Features
The Watch 6 series supports more than 100 sports modes, including professional modes for skiing, cycling and golf.
Huawei has also introduced a new AI workout analysis feature. It highlights workout load and key metrics while providing recovery recommendations.
Watch 6 Pro models also gain the Expedition app, which was previously exclusive to Huawei’s Watch Ultimate series.
The app includes waypoint markers, on-device color maps, key health information, and return navigation.
Battery and Pricing
Battery life varies depending on the model.
The 42mm and 43mm versions offer up to three days of typical use and up to seven days with battery saver mode enabled.
The 46mm models are rated for up to 4.5 days of typical use and up to 11 days with battery saver mode.
The Huawei Watch 6 starts at £399.99, while the Watch 6 Pro starts at £599.99.
Both models will be available from September 23.
