Huawei has introduced the FreeBuds 7 alongside the Mate XT 2 during its HarmonyOS 7 launch event.
The new wireless earbuds are priced at approximately $140, with Huawei focusing heavily on improved active noise cancellation through a new internally developed audio AI chip.
More Powerful Noise Cancellation
The FreeBuds 7 are powered by Huawei’s third-generation self-developed audio AI chip, which the company says delivers 100% more computing power than the previous generation.
According to Huawei, the chip can sample surrounding noise as frequently as 400,000 times every second, allowing the earbuds to react quickly to changes in the user’s environment.
Noise processing latency has also been reduced to just 8 microseconds.
Huawei claims these improvements allow the FreeBuds 7 to provide an average noise reduction depth that is 230% better than the previous generation, while their noise cancellation bandwidth is 275% wider.
Lighter Semi-In-Ear Design
Unlike traditional earbuds that sit deeper inside the ear canal, the FreeBuds 7 use a semi-in-ear design.
Each earbud weighs just 4.3 grams, while Huawei has moved the center of gravity inward by 17% for better weight distribution.
The earbuds are available in Sunlight Orange, Midsummer Purple, Moonlight White, and Starry Black.
The charging case has also been redesigned. Huawei says it is 25% smaller and 17% lighter than the previous generation.
Smarter AI Noise Adjustment
Huawei has also introduced a new AI perception noise reduction algorithm that continuously analyzes several factors while the earbuds are being used.
The system monitors the surrounding environment, the shape of the user’s ears, and how the earbuds are positioned more than 10,000 times per second.
Huawei says the algorithm’s convergence speed is 750% faster than before, allowing noise cancellation to adjust more quickly to changing conditions.
Improved Call Noise Reduction
The FreeBuds 7 also focus on voice calls, with support for what Huawei describes as 100dB two-way silent calls.
The feature is designed to reduce surrounding noise during conversations so that voices remain clearer even in noisy environments.
Pricing
Huawei has priced the FreeBuds 7 at 999 yuan, or approximately $140.
The earbuds were announced alongside the company’s new Mate XT 2 tri-fold smartphone and HarmonyOS 7.
