How Pensioners Can Get a Proof of Life Certificate Through the PakID App

Pensioners in Pakistan can now obtain a Proof of Life Certificate from home through the PakID mobile application. The digital service was formally launched on August 20, 2026.

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is providing the certificate free of charge. The facility is especially useful for older people, sick, and disabled pensioners who may find it difficult to visit a bank.

Once the verification is completed, the certificate is automatically sent to the relevant pension controller. This means the pensioner does not need to take a printed certificate to the bank.

Apply Through the PakID App

First, download the PakID mobile app and create an account. Log in and select the Proof of Life option from the biometrics section.

If you are applying for yourself, choose “Myself.” If you are helping a family member, select “My Blood Relatives.”

A pensioner’s spouse, son, daughter, parents, sister or brother can submit the request through their PakID account. The pensioner must be present during the verification process.

Check the applicant’s details and tap the button for facial verification. Follow the instructions on the screen to capture the pensioner’s face correctly.

After facial verification, the app will ask for fingerprint verification. Complete this step and select “Apply” to submit the request.

Download the Certificate

After submitting the application, open ID Vault in the PakID app. Go to My Documents and open the POLC folder.

The Proof of Life Certificate should be available in this folder after successful processing. The system will also send it electronically to the relevant pension authority.

Once the certificate is issued, the pension will continue for the next six months without interruption.

Other Ways to Get the Certificate

Pensioners who cannot use a smartphone can visit their nearest NADRA registration centre or e-Sahulat franchise. A family member may accompany them and help with the process.

The certificate is also available free of charge through these locations. Pensioners should carry their original identity documents and follow the biometric verification instructions provided at the centre.
