GTA 6 Hype Pushes PlayStation 5 Prices Above $1,400 Everywhere

The PlayStation 5 Pro has sold out at major US retailers as demand rises ahead of the November 2026 release of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6).

As of early September, the $899 PS5 Pro was unavailable at retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, GameStop and PlayStation Direct.

In Pakistan, the same console is being sold for around Rs. 350,000 by popular retailers in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, an importer informed ProPakistani.

International resellers have listed the console for more than $1,400 on secondary marketplaces. That is substantially above Sony’s current US retail price.

Sony originally launched the PS5 Pro in November 2024 at $699.99. Its US price was later increased to $899 in 2026.

The hype is real. Rockstar Games prepares to release GTA 6 on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Recent reports also indicate that overall PS5 and Xbox sales increased following the latest GTA 6 showcase.

The PS5 Pro is not required to play GTA 6, but the game is among the biggest upcoming releases for current-generation consoles.
