Govt Ends Permanent Jobs for Doctors in Teaching Hospitals

Permanent employment opportunities for doctors at government teaching hospitals have been eliminated, as authorities have decided to hire Senior Registrars on contract instead of permanent positions through the Public Service Commission.

Senior Registrars in medicine, surgery and other departments will now be recruited on a three-year contract.

The end of permanent job opportunities has caused doctors to lose interest in the government health sector. The bureaucracy has reportedly moved towards phasing out permanent employment for doctors in government hospitals.
