Govt Deploys Pakistan Army in KP After Imposing Emergency

The federal government has authorized the deployment of Pakistan Army troops and assets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in aid of civil power.

The Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control issued the order in Islamabad on October 11, 2026. It is set to be published in the next issue of the Gazette of Pakistan, Part-II.

According to the order, the federal government exercised its powers under Article 245 of the Constitution to approve the deployment.

The troops will assist civil authorities in protecting lives, citizens and their property. They will also help secure government installations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The order states that the deployment will remain in effect for the duration of the proclamation issued on October 11, 2026, under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution.

Moreover, the latest directive supersedes the federal government’s earlier orders on the matter.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor will determine the required number of Pakistan Army troops and assets. He will make the decision in consultation with the Military Operations Directorate at General Headquarters (GHQ).

The notification does not specify a fixed number of troops or military assets for deployment. Instead, authorities will determine the requirement according to the situation in the province.
