The federal government has cleared 11,695 pending net-metering applications across Pakistan following special instructions from Federal Minister for Power Division Awais Leghari.
The applications were among 16,654 cases that had remained pending during the transition from the previous net-metering system to net billing, according to the Power Division.
The Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) has started contacting the 11,695 applicants directly through text messages, WhatsApp and other digital channels to provide updates on their cases.
Consumers can also check their application status through the relevant online portal.
The government has warned applicants not to pay anyone for faster processing, saying direct communication is intended to protect consumers from agents and unnecessary third-party involvement.
Verification of the remaining 4,959 applications is continuing under applicable rules. The process is aimed at protecting legitimate consumers while preventing illegal connections.
Leghari has directed officials to complete the remaining verification process quickly and ensure applicants receive clear information about their cases.
The Power Division said the government remains committed to promoting solar and renewable energy while maintaining a transparent and sustainable system.
