Government Issues E-Filing Rules 2026 for Overseas Pakistanis

The government has issued the E-Filing Rules 2026 for property-related cases involving overseas Pakistanis, introducing an online system for filing petitions, submitting documents and accessing court proceedings.

Under the new rules, overseas Pakistanis can submit applications and relevant documents electronically before designated special courts without appearing physically for every procedural step.

The rules also allow hearings through video link, enabling overseas litigants to take part in court proceedings remotely.

Electronic notices will be sent to overseas Pakistanis, while other judicial facilities will also be available through the online system.

Court judgments and decrees will be uploaded to the designated online portal, allowing litigants to access them electronically.

The framework also sets out a mechanism for preserving electronic evidence and maintaining court records in digital form.

Paper filing will be allowed in cases where electronic filing is not possible. An alternative filing mechanism has also been provided for disruptions in the online system so litigants are not denied access to the courts because of technical problems.

The new rules are aimed at helping overseas Pakistanis involved in property disputes by reducing the need for physical visits to Pakistan and improving access to judicial proceedings through digital means.
