Germany is looking to expand its business and economic relationship with Pakistan, with German Ambassador Ina Lepel reaffirming interest in stronger ties between German companies and Pakistani businesses.
Lepel made the remarks during a meeting with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Tuesday, where she also congratulated Pakistan on its recent sovereign credit rating upgrade by Moody’s.
The ambassador said the improved rating reflected greater confidence in Pakistan’s economic outlook and reform efforts. She also appreciated the country’s economic progress despite regional geopolitical challenges.
Aurangzeb highlighted improvements in Pakistan’s foreign exchange buffers and the government’s efforts to maintain fiscal discipline. He said Islamabad is focused on sustaining economic stability, implementing structural reforms and creating a better environment for investment and business activity.
The two sides discussed German multinational companies operating in Pakistan and opportunities to expand business cooperation.
Aurangzeb stressed the need for policy continuity, easier business processes and institutional reforms to support greater foreign investment.
He also briefed the ambassador on the Federal Board of Revenue’s digitalization efforts, saying technology-driven reforms would improve tax administration, transparency and efficiency.
Lepel welcomed Pakistan’s economic stabilization and reform efforts and reaffirmed Germany’s interest in stronger bilateral economic and business ties.
She also invited Aurangzeb to the 19th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK), which will be held in Seoul later this year.
