GC University Faisalabad has reported a serious breach in its IT system after unidentified hackers allegedly manipulated student results and attempted to inflate marks.
According to university officials, unauthorized users accessed faculty portals and altered the results of 32 students across 72 courses.
The controller’s office later detected a mismatch between the manual and online records, prompting it to withhold the results.
The university has now requested the FIA Cyber Crime Wing to investigate the incident.
In its request, the university said unknown individuals also received money to alter student results. It added that faculty portals of several teachers were repeatedly accessed from a single IP address on different dates.
University officials said no student had been issued a bogus detailed marks certificate on the basis of the tampered records.
The incident has raised serious concerns over data security and the integrity of the university’s examination system.
