FIA Warns of Legal Action Against Fake Social Media Pages

The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Islamabad Zone has warned of legal action against people who create fake social media pages or accounts using its name, identity, or logo to mislead citizens.

According to a report, an official said that some individuals allegedly used the FIA Islamabad Zone’s name and identity without permission to run fake social media pages and accounts.

The zone said people who create such accounts, spread false information, or mislead the public under the FIA’s identity would face action under the law. Its warning covers both fake pages and individual accounts presenting themselves as official sources.

The agency urged citizens to rely on official sources for press releases, announcements, and verified updates. It also warned users not to treat unofficial accounts as authentic simply because they use the FIA Islamabad Zone’s name.

It also urged citizens to report suspicious or fake pages to the relevant authorities and avoid circulating information they have not verified. The report did not identify the accounts involved or specify which legal provisions authorities would use.
