The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has upgraded nine secondary schools in Islamabad Capital Territory to higher secondary level, allowing them to operate as colleges from the 2026-27 academic session.
According to an official notification, the upgraded institutions will offer intermediate programs in technical education, science, humanities and computer science, expanding access to higher secondary education in the capital.
Among the upgraded boys’ schools, Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X), G-10/3; Islamabad Model School for Boys (I-X), I-14; and Islamabad Model School for Boys (I-X), Chattar have been upgraded and renamed Islamabad Model Colleges. The three institutions will offer the Inter Tech stream.
Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X), G-9/1 has been renamed Islamabad Model College for Boys (VI-XII), G-9/1, and will offer Inter Tech and ICS programs. Meanwhile, Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X), Golra has been upgraded to Islamabad Model College for Boys (VI-XII), Golra, where students will be able to study FSc, FA and ICS.
Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X), Tarlai has also been upgraded to Islamabad Model College for Boys (VI-XII) and will offer FA and ICS. The decision also includes three girls’ schools. Islamabad Model School for Girls (I-X), Sangjani has been upgraded to Islamabad Model College for Girls (I-XII) and will offer Inter Tech.
Islamabad Model School for Girls (I-X), Pind Malkan has been renamed Islamabad Model College for Girls (I-XII) and will offer FA and ICS, while Islamabad Model School for Girls (I-X), NHC will offer Inter Tech and ICS after its upgrade.
The move places particular emphasis on technical and computer education, with the new programs aimed at expanding students’ access to career-oriented intermediate education and modern skills.
