The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced the auction of a 32-kanal property in Bahria Golf City, Rawalpindi, to recover outstanding tax dues of approximately Rs. 26.4 billion.
According to an auction notice issued by the FBR’s Large Taxpayers Office (LTO), Islamabad, the property includes 32 kanals and 11 marlas of land along with a constructed house/built-up area.
The property is located at Plot No. 1, Street No. R2A, Bahria Golf City, Mauza Salkhater, Tehsil and District Rawalpindi.
The auction is scheduled for October 6, 2026. The notice states that the proceedings are being conducted under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 and Income Tax Rules, 2002 for recovery of outstanding tax liabilities. The auction notice has also been reported as an active FBR property auction closing on October 6.
Under the applicable income-tax recovery framework, attached immovable property can be sold through public auction or tender, subject to the prescribed legal process and approval by the relevant tax authorities.
2025
In 2025, the tax authority stepped up recovery proceedings over tax demands relating to tax years 2020 and 2022. The enforcement drive subsequently included action against major properties linked to the group.
One of the significant properties targeted in the proceedings was a 527-kanal, 10-marla property in Murree, which went through repeated auction proceedings before being sold in July 2026.
FBR has also previously auctioned a Bahria Town property on Park Road, Islamabad, generating around Rs. 2.05 billion, according to the information provided for the proceedings.
FBR and NAB Proceedings Are Separate
The latest auction should not be confused with separate proceedings conducted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Bahria Town-related properties.
NAB has pursued properties in connection with recovery of amounts arising from a plea bargain. In June 2025, it announced the auction of several properties, including Bahria Town corporate offices on Park Road, Rawalpindi, Rubaish Marquee and Lawn in Islamabad, Arena Cinema, Bahria Town International Academy and Safari Club.
Those proceedings were conducted under Section 33-E of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999. The October 6 auction, however, is an FBR tax-recovery proceeding and is being conducted under the income-tax recovery framework.
