The famous lake at Shah Shams Park in Multan is set to reopen to the public after remaining non-functional for 15 years, with authorities directed to make it operational in the first week of September.
Multan Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan inspected the ongoing restoration work and directed the Multan Horticulture Agency to complete the remaining work within the stipulated timeframe.
The lake has been closed since 2011 and is now being restored on a fast-track basis to revive one of the city’s key recreational attractions.
During the visit, the commissioner also directed officials to put comprehensive safety arrangements in place to provide visitors with a secure and pleasant environment.
He said reopening the lake would help restore the lost charm of Shah Shams Park and provide families with an improved recreational facility.
Khan also inspected the under-construction cafeteria and ordered its completion by the end of August.
Managing Director Horticulture Authority Multan Syed Waseem Hassan briefed the commissioner on the progress of the lake restoration and other development works at the park.
He assured that the lake would be completed within the prescribed timeframe and that the upgraded park would provide better recreational facilities to citizens.
