The Faisalabad district administration has planned to build a monument dedicated to Bhagat Singh as part of a broader initiative to beautify the city and preserve its historical heritage.
Deputy Commissioner Nouman Siddique described Bhagat Singh as a common freedom fighter of the pre- and post-Partition era while speaking to the media about ongoing development projects in the city.
The administration also plans to construct walking tracks along both sides of the Rakh Branch Canal to encourage residents to adopt walking as a regular physical activity and provide access to open spaces.
Siddique said similar walking tracks would be developed in Jaranwala, while Samundri already has such a facility.
The administration is also working through union councils to establish eight parks at locations with suitable land and canal access. The Parks and Horticulture Authority has identified parks in poor condition for priority maintenance.
Another local park is being restored with support from WASA and the Planning and Development Department. The site is expected to be cleared after September 30, after which restoration work will begin.
The DC said development projects in Jhang Bazaar and Aminpur Bazaar are expected to be completed by the end of November, while five parking plazas are planned for completion within seven to eight months.
A proposed parking plaza at Chiniot Bazaar has remained pending since 2015. The administration is working to address objections raised at the Lahore office and has also explored a public-private partnership to reduce the financial burden on the government.
