Fact Check: Is Sindh Not Included in PM Chromebook Scheme?
Confusion has emerged on social media over the registration process for Sindh students under the Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme, as the province’s option is currently unavailable on the online application form.
The scheme’s official website has clarified that registration for students in Sindh will open after all examination boards in the province announce their Class 9 annual examination results for 2026.
The notice indicates that Sindh students have not been permanently excluded from the program. Instead, their registration will begin once the required examination results become available.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently launched the initiative to distribute 500,000 Chromebooks among deserving and talented students across Pakistan. The program aims to improve students’ access to digital education, online learning resources and electronic libraries.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, the prime minister said merit and hard work would guide the distribution process. He also announced plans to provide students with bags and MiFi devices to facilitate internet access alongside the Chromebooks.
The government plans to distribute the devices over two years. According to the official notice, students from Sindh will be able to apply through the same online portal after all examination boards in the province declare their Class 9 annual examination results for 2026.
